Referrals to Capri Ultrasound

At Capri Ultrasound, we work closely with GPs, specialists, and
allied health professionals to provide fast, reliable, and clinically relevant ultrasound servicing. Our referral process is designed to be simple and efficient, ensuring patients receive the care they need as quickly as possible.

How to Refer a Patient

We accept referrals from general practitioners, specialists, and podiatrists for a range of ultrasound services. Referrals can be submitted via:
For urgent referrals, please contact us directly by phone, and we will prioritise the patient’s appointment.

We also accept referrals using your own standard forms, provided they include all necessary patient details and requested ultrasound services.

Urgent Referrals

For patients requiring urgent scans, such as DVT, testicular torsion, temporal arteritis or appendicitis, we prioritise these cases to ensure timely diagnosis and care. Please indicate the urgency when submitting the referral or contact us directly by phone for immediate scheduling.

Bulk-Billing Ultrasound Gold Coast for Medicare Card Holders

At Capri Ultrasound, we offer bulk-billing for most ultrasound servicing for eligible Medicare card holders. This ensures your patients can access high-quality imaging services without out-of-pocket expenses, provided they meet Medicare criteria.
Bulk-Billed Services Include:
  • General Ultrasounds: Abdomen,
    renal/urinary tract, and more.
  • Vascular Ultrasounds: Carotid arteries, DVT, leg veins, and more.
  • Musculoskeletal Ultrasounds: Shoulder, hip, knee, and more
  • Small Parts Ultrasounds: Thyroid, scrotum, lumps, and masses.
Please Note:
  • Penis ultrasounds cannot be bulk-billed due to Medicare restrictions.
  • Some shoulder and knee ultrasounds require specific clinical indications to qualify for bulk-billing, which we will confirm with you or the patient upon attendance.

Referral for Podiatry Patients

Podiatrists can refer patients for bulk-billed ultrasounds using specific item numbers for foot and ankle imaging, including:
  • 55888 & 55890: Ankle/Hind Foot
  • 55892 & 55894 Mid/Fore Foot
  • 55844 Lump/Subcutaneous Mass
We welcome podiatry referrals and aim to provide fast, clinically relevant reports to support your patient care.

Attendance and Late Cancellation Policy

As a bulk-billing practice, we are deeply committed to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to our community. To sustain this service, we rely on our appointments being filled. When an appointment is missed or cancelled at the last minute, it results in lost resources that make it increasingly difficult for us to maintain our bulk-billing model for everyone.
To help us continue serving the community efficiently, please note our policy regarding attendance:
  • Timely Cancellations: If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, we kindly ask that you provide us with as much notice as possible so that we may offer the time slot to another patient in need.
  • Booking Limitations: Patients who miss their appointments without notice (no-shows) or cancel on short notice may have their future booking privileges suspended at our practice.
  • Our Discretionary Approach: We understand that genuine emergencies and unforeseen circumstances occur. Decisions regarding future bookings are made at management’s discretion, thoughtfully taking into account the specific situation and your past attendance history.

2. Patient Behaviour Policy
We understand that undergoing medical imaging can be an anxious and stressful experience, and our team is fully dedicated to supporting you with care and empathy. However, creating a safe, calm, and respectful environment for our staff and other patients is our utmost priority.
To ensure our practice remains a safe space for everyone, we observe a strict Zero Tolerance Policy:
  • Professional Boundaries: We expect all interactions with our team whether in person, over the phone, or via digital communication—to be respectful. Rude, aggressive, abusive, demanding, or entitled behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
  • Service Discontinuation: Our staff have the right to work in a safe environment free from hostility. Patients who exhibit unacceptable behaviour will be asked to leave immediately and will no longer be permitted to book future appointments with our clinic.
