Carotid Arteries – For assessing blood flow to the brain and stroke risk.
Temporal Arteries - For assessment of giant cell arteritis which can lead to blindness if untreated.
Arm Veins & Arteries - For assessing blood flow to the hands, compression at the thoracic outlet (thoracic outlet syndrome) and blood clot in the veins.
Aorta and IVC - For assessment of aortic aneurysms, compromised blood flow as a part of a leg artery examination and for detection blood clot or metastasis
Leg Arteries & Veins – Including DVT (deep vein thrombosis) & varicose veins (chronic venous
insufficiency). Note: A leg artery exam will routinely include assessment of the aorta & iliac arteries
Renal and Mesenteric Arteries – Assessing blood flow to the kidneys and bowel.
