Our Ultrasound Services

We provide a wide variety of bulk billing ultrasound gold coast services, including general, musculoskeletal,
small parts, vascular, urgent, knee ultrasound and workers’ compensation scans. Here’s a breakdown of what we offer:

General Ultrasound

General ultrasounds help assess and diagnose various conditions related to internal organs and structures and require preparation. Our general ultrasound services include:

Abdomen - Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen,
and other abdominal organs
Renal/Urinary Tract – Kidneys, bladder, and prostate in males

Small Parts Ultrasound

Small parts ultrasound focuses on more specialised areas, providing detailed imaging of smaller structures. These ultrasounds do not require preparation:

Neck/Thyroid/Salivary Glands
Scrotum and Testicles
Subcutaneous Lumps or Masses

Vascular Ultrasound

Vascular ultrasounds are used to evaluate blood flow and identify any issues in your blood vessels. Assessment of vessels within the abdomen requires preparation. We offer detailed vascular imaging, including:

Carotid Arteries – For assessing blood flow to the brain and stroke risk.
Temporal Arteries - For assessment of giant cell arteritis which can lead to blindness if untreated.
Arm Veins & Arteries - For assessing blood flow to the hands, compression at the thoracic outlet (thoracic outlet syndrome) and blood clot in the veins.
Aorta and IVC - For assessment of aortic aneurysms, compromised blood flow as a part of a leg artery examination and for detection blood clot or metastasis
Leg Arteries & Veins – Including DVT (deep vein thrombosis) & varicose veins (chronic venous
insufficiency). Note: A leg artery exam will routinely include assessment of the aorta & iliac arteries
Renal and Mesenteric Arteries– Assessing blood flow to the kidneys and bowel.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound

MSK ultrasounds help diagnose injuries or conditions affecting muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. We offer MSK ultrasound for:

Shoulder and Upper Arm
Elbow and Forearm
Wrist, Hand, and Fingers

Abdominal Wall, Hip, Groin, and Thigh
Knee, Calf, and Achilles Tendon
Foot, Heel, and Toes

Urgent Ultrasounds

When time is critical, our urgent ultrasound services provide fast, accurate diagnosis. We prioritise urgent cases to ensure quick results. These include:

DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
Testicular Torsion
Appendicitis

Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder)
Temporal Arteritis
Other urgent cases as requested by your doctor.

Workers’ Compensation Ultrasounds

At Capri Ultrasound, we accept workers’ compensation referrals for a range of injuries. If your ultrasound is part of a workers’ compensation claim, we’ll ensure your scan is handled with the care and detail required for these cases.

Pre-Approval: We recommend obtaining approval from the workers’ compensation insurer before your scan. However, if approval has not yet been obtained, we can arrange for private billing so you can proceed with your examination.

Please note: Workers’ compensation patients who proceed without approval will need to pay privately, but we are happy to assist with the documentation needed for reimbursement.

Bulk-Billed Diagnostic Ultrasounds

At Capri Ultrasound, we believe in providing accessible care for all. That’s why we offer bulk-billing for nearly all of our diagnostic ultrasound services for Medicare card holders, as long as Medicare criteria are met. This ensures that you can receive high-quality, reliable ultrasound care without the financial burden.

Please note:

Penis ultrasounds cannot be bulk-billed due to specific Medicare criteria.
Some knee and shoulder ultrasounds may require specific clinical indications to be bulk-billed, but we’ll discuss this with you or your referring doctor to ensure all criteria are met.
